Group 20 - May to August 2011

Our May semester was action packed, with 17 volunteers from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, The USA, Slovakia and Britain.

The volunteers receiving their Certificates of Appreciation from CWF Management and Board.

The orientation trip this semester was to Stung Treng, around 7 hours north from Phnom Penh on the Mekong River. Here the volunteers experienced home-stay living with the local community, and witnessed the work of our partner NGO, CRDT.

The volunteer house, located in a nice neighbourhood in Toul Tum Poung, about a 10 minute walk from the Russian Market and the school. We have 7 shared bedrooms, each with ensuite, lots of space on the ground floor common area and on our huge balcony. The tall gates are a common feature of Khmer houses, and keeps the house safe and secure.

The TV room at the volunteer house has a big new LCD TV, huge DVD collection, and lots of cushions!

The fleet of bicycles for volunteers use to ride to school and explore Phnom Penh. Staff service all the bikes regularly.

The kitchen at the volunteer house. Most meals are prepared by our cooks, but on public holidays volunteers can to cook up a storm.

Bedrooms in the volunteer house come with mattress linen, pillows, mosquito nets and an ensuite bathroom.

The huge balcony on top of the volunteer house is a great place to relax on a hammock, prepare lessons or surf the internet with the house WIFI, and enjoy a cold drink in the evenings.
